In search of a future that may not exist and faced with the decision of who to share it with, Cassia journeys to the Outer Provinces in pursuit of Ky - taken by the Society to his certain death - only to find that he has escaped, leaving a series of clues in his wake.
Cassia's quest leads her to question much of what she holds dear, even as she finds glimmers of a different life across the border. But as Cassia nears resolve and certainty about her future with Ky, an invitation for rebellion, an unexpected betrayal, and a surprise visit from Xander - who may hold the key to the uprising and, still, to Cassia's heart - change the game once again. Nothing is as expected on the edge of Society, where crosses and double crosses make the path more twisted than ever.
Nancy's Review:
According to some reviews online this book was amazing. According to me... it wasn't. The plot of the book could have been summarized in like 10 pages, it was 357 pages too long. The whole time I felt like they were in the same place and doing the same thing. Also, a lot of things were not described in a way that made them easy to understand. I ended up being confused about what they were doing and was going on. Another issue I was having was that the story didn't seem very dystopian, I kept forgetting that it was not set in modern time. However, despite my negative comments, I rated it a 6 because I really enjoyed the characters. They were the highlight of the book. They were well-developed and seemed very real. They had a background story, a goal, faults and strengths; they were very much alive in the book and I really enjoyed that.
